The Lei Making Methods
HUMU-PAPA, (KUI PAPA), the
sew-to-a-foundation methods. Floral material with or without
stems, was sewn to a foundation of dried banana stalk skin, pandanus,
coconut or ti leaves or other such materials. The humu-papa
method was a comfortable one for head leis.
